'Spirella Unbound' - Weaving Workshops - Make Woven Lace & Colour Patterns.

These Special ‘one-off’ workshops will be taking place during the ‘Spirella Unbound’ exhibition at The Broadway Gallery, Letchworth.

The woven projects have been inspired by aspects of the rich history of the Spirella Company Great Britain archives and the garments that they produced.

‘Traditional Woven Patterns on a Rigid Heddle Loom’

10am – 12pm, Friday 29th November

Tutor: Amy Wilson of Liliane Textiles

Enjoy a relaxing couple of hours weaving cloth on a Rigid heddle table loom.

In this workshop we will be recreating a selection of patterns in designs and colorways inspired by fabrics found in the Spirella archives.

Weave a fabric mat in cozy tweeds with wools, which were incorporated into suiting collections made by the company in the 1960’s & 1970s. These include tartans and Houndstooth checks with a vintage vibe!

A weaving workshop suitable for all levels (Age 14+).- beginners welcome.

£25 p/p (2hr) including materials and a pre-set loom ready for you to weave on.

There are 10 spaces available for this workshop.

10am – 2pm, Friday 6th December.

Tutor: Amy Wilson of Liliane Textiles

Make delicate fabric and lace trims inspired by the corsets of the Spirella Company Great Britain on a Rigid heddle loom.

In this workshop we will be looking at a selection of woven lace structures and weaving a wall hanging ‘sampler’ style artwork which combines several decorative stitches.

A class suitable for both confident beginners and Improvers, who may have some previous experience of weaving on the Rigid Heddle Loom or other related crafts (Age 14+).

£40 p/p (4hr) including materials and a pre-set loom ready for you to weave on.
